The Sporting Lunchtime Lectures Return This Saturday!
Paul Norcross: The Dude Abides With Me: German Philosophy, Films and Football Fandom
Following Bradford City’s dramatic promotion on the final day of last season, scheduling talks at the Record Cafe has been made difficult for, the welcome reason, that matchdays are now often too busy, even at midday.
However, at high noon this Saturday (8 November), the first of the 2025/26 season of sporting lunchtime lectures commences, with Paul Norcross and a talk entitled: The Dude Abides With Me: German Philosophy, Films and Football Fandom.
North Parade’s favourite philosopher returns with the talk we had to abandon due to the madness that was the Fleetwood game; the day of pyro-insanity.
A tour de force, or perhaps that should be a Glanzleistung, of goodness knows what. We don’t know, we’re not sure he knows, where it will take us. All the stuff Paul forgot about, or has since thought about, in the wake of his barnstorming talk in late 2024.
The board goes up and on comes even more German philosophy and sport.
Deep in added time will it be a thriller from Schiller? An unmissable opening to the new season of talk.
As ever admission is free, simply buy a pint or a cuppa and settle down for 45 minutes for our unique brand of eccentricity and occasional enlightenment.
